Meet the 2021 Chevy Suburban and Tahoe!

Yesterday night, the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban was unveiled. It is bigger and better than ever. It takes many design cues from the Chevy Silverado pickup truck. The Tahoe, its smaller version, was also unveiled. Let’s dive right into information about these vehicles!

The new Chevrolet Suburban is completely redesigned for 2021. It looks very similar to the Chevy Silverado pickup truck, but cleaner. The design is more straight-forward and simple, without any unnecessary complications. Both the Suburban and Tahoe now have independent rear suspension (IRS), meaning that each wheel has its own joint and can move freely without affecting the opposite wheel. In the old Suburban and Tahoe, the back wheels were connected by one straight bar, with springs at each end of the bar. This new suspension method also allows for more cargo and interior space. Its 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V-8 engines are updated with more power. The Tahoe and Suburban’s powertrains are taken from the Silverado, but with some important updates. The Silverado’s leaf springs were taken away and swapped for IRS with coil springs.

Both vehicles are bigger, with the Suburban growing 4.1 inches and the Tahoe getting 4.9 inches longer. This increases cargo and interior room by a lot. For example, the Tahoe now has 10 more inches of third-row legroom! That is a huge increase! The Suburban does not get an increase that large, but it does get an extra 2.2 inches of rear legroom.

Now let’s talk a little about this new design. The front of these big SUVs is mostly taken from the Silverado pickup truck. The lights and grill are nearly identical. But the front bumper is where things start to change. The front bumper of the Tahoe and Suburban is more clean than the Silverado. The side of the SUVs is also less aggressive, with less curves and sharp edges. The rear is a lot different than the Silverado, with new lights and a different place for the license plate. The new Tahoe and Suburban look like a watered down Silverado, but in a good way.

The interior of these vehicles is a lot nicer than the previous generation. They now have new screens that are freestanding. They also have slightly new gauge clusters.

I put together videos of the Tahoe and Suburban using footage from the Chevrolet Pressroom.

I like the design of the new Tahoe and Suburban. I think it looks really clean and elegant. You should also check out my digital render of the new Suburban from a month ago and see how it compares to the real deal!
