German automakers, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Volkswagen have all updated their logos to support social distancing during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Social distancing is when people limit contact with others. Social distancing is proven to slow the spread of diseases.
Mercedes-Benz has an iconic logo with a 3-pointed star surrounded by a circle. The 3-pointed star represents the company’s plan to have products on land, in the sea, and in the air. The 3-pointed star is usually touching the circle surrounding it.

Now the 3-pointed star is separated from the circle, to represent social distancing.

Mercedes-Benz has even added it to their Facebook profile image.

Audi made a new logo by separating its iconic 4 rings logo. The four rings are now separate from each other.

Volkswagen made a new logo where the “V” for Volks and the “W” for Wagen are now separate. “Volks” means people in German and “Wagen” means car in German. So the logo means people’s car.

VW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz aren’t the only companies doing this though. McDonald’s separated its golden arches in support of social distancing:

Coca Cola has done the same:

I think it is really nice that companies are releasing new logos to support social distancing. It can really help slow the spread of COVID-19. So please stay inside and limit contact with others!
