A recent study from IBM indicates that people will be using public transportation and ridesharing less. IBM polled over 25,000 adults in the United States last month to get an understanding of how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected their viewpoint on certain issues.
Twenty percent of respondents who use public transport say they no longer would. Twenty eight percent of the people say they would use public transit less often. In addition to this, over half of the participants said they would stop using ridesharing services completely! This is stunning information! A lot of people do not want to ride in a vehicle with a stranger anymore. People will begin to use their personal transit more often. The study states that 1 in 4 of the partakers will use their personal vehicle as their main mode of transportation. However, a large amount of the respondents say that they will hold off on buying a new vehicle due to a lack of trust in the U.S. economy.
COVID-19 will likely forever change the way people get around. Taxi, ride sharing, and public transit services are due to see a decrease in usage and sales. Do you think it is safe to continue using ridesharing?
